Two teenage girls were among three people injured in a traffic incident in Burmarrad on Monday evening, the police said.

The two 17-year-olds were passengers in a Toyota Avensis being driven by a 30-year-old woman and which crashed into a Hyundai i30 with a 32-year-old Birkirkara man behind the wheel.

The crash happened on Triq Burmarrad at around 6.30pm.

Civil Protection Department officials were called to the crash site to help the people inside the Toyota.

An ambulance took the car’s two teenage passengers to Mater Dei Hospital, where doctors found that one had been gravely hurt while the other had emerged with slight injuries. The 30-year-old driver’s injuries remain unknown.

Police said they are investigating further.
