Two of the reserve policemen who have been reinstated since March 2013 were aged between 70 and 80, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela said today.

Replying to a Parliamentary question by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi, the minister said four were aged between 35 and 44 years, 55 were between 45 and 54 years, 63 were between 55 and 64 years and 11 were between 65 and 69 years.

The minister said the scheme was to be revised to ensure that reinstated officers were capable of carrying out their duties.

The way forward was primarily the engagement of new officers, Mr Abela said.
