Two quakes have been recorded at exactly the same place, about 90 kilometres south of Malta in just over two days.

Pauline Galea, from the Physics Department of the University of Malta, said the first earthquake was on Wednesday at 8.22 a.m., the second this morning at 4:43 a.m.

This morning's quake was the larger and had a magnitude of 3.8, Wednesday's was 2.4.
