A Marsaxlokk footballer and a club official this morning pleaded guilty to trying to bribe Msida St Joseph goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri on November 23.

Footballer Claude Mattocks, 29, who resides in Birkirkara, and club assistant coach Peter Hartshorne, 44, who resides in Marsaxlokk, admitted their guilt but asked the court to consider any proof they might produce before sentencing.

Both were granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000 each.

The Marsaxlokk-Msida game on November 23 had ended with a draw of one each.

Dr Joseph Giglio represented Mattacks and Dr Franco Debono represented Hartshorne.
