Two men were taken to court today after the police found some 18kgs of cannabis resin a picnic cooler on a fishing boat yesterday.

The drug was found during a raid at about 2am as the fishing boat berthed at Marsaxlokk.

Keith Barbara, a 30-year-old fisherman from Vittoriosa and Slvio Apap, 30 of Xaghajra, were accused of conspiring to traffic, drugs, importing drugs and aggravated possession.

Both pleaded guilty. The defence counsel requested a pre-sentencing report. The court ordered the seizure of the assets of the accused.

Both were remanded in custody.
