The Department of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention said yesterday that another two suspected cases of scarlet fever have been reported at a school in Gozo.

The cases occurred in the same school where an outbreak of the illness was reported last week and are linked, the department said. The necessary public health measures are being taken and there is no need for alarm, it added. Last January the department reported five cases of scarlet fever in children, all in Gozo. There were just nine cases of scarlet fever between 1997 and last June in Malta and Gozo.
