Two men are expected to be charged with seriously injuring a driver when they allegedly beat him up and his passenger following a collision in St Paul's Bay.

Mark Formston, 25, and Claudio Camilleri, 22, both from Hamrun, will be accused of seriously injuring Notary James Grech and his passenger Natasha Bugeja following a traffic accident early on Sunday. Police sources said the incident took place when Mr Formston and his brother-in-law were in a car being driven by the former, on the way home from a wedding. They were involved in a collision with Mr Grech's car close to the St Pau's Bay roundabout.

An argument broke out and they allegedly punched and grounded Mr Grech and continued to punch and kick him in the face, seriously injuring him.

Ms Bugeja was slightly injured when they allegedly assaulted and punched her.

The charges against Mr Formston and Mr Camilleri were filed in the court registry today. Police Inspector Paul Bond is prosecuting.
