Two former security guards at Lidl Supermarket in Sta Venera were this morning charged with stealing more than €1,000 worth of products.

Anthony Portelli, 35, of Zejtun was put on probation for two years after he admitted to the theft and to being in possession of two pen knives.

Alessio Zammit, 56, of St Paul's Bay pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000.
