Two men were arrested following an armed robbery at a gaming outlet in Ta’ Xbiex late on Friday.

The police received a report shortly after 11pm that two men, one of them carrying a firearm, had entered the outlet on the Ta’ Xbiex seafront and ordered a 20-year-old employee to hand over money. Three clients were in the premises at the time.

The robbers made off with a “substantial” amount of cash but were identified and arrested a short while later by members of the Rapid Intervention Unit. The police said the men were being held for investigations.

Duty Magistrate Audrey Demicoli ordered an inquiry.
