38-year-old Paul Cuschieri of Senglea this afternoon pleaded guilty to the trafficking and possession of heroin while 24-year-old Eman Cassar of Cospicua pleaded not guilty. They were remanded in custody.

The two were arraigned before Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera following a drug haul by the police in Cospicua late yesterday morning.

The police found 11 packets of heroin ready to be sold in Mr Cuschieri’s possession and one packet on Mr Cassar. They then hauled 235 grammes of heroin from their residence.

In a separate case, 20-year-old Keith Balzan pleaded not guilty to resisting the police in Paceville yesterday night while Russian Yanis Yarvel was conditionally discharged for six months after pleading guilty to disobeying police orders during the same fight.
