Hibernians forward Denni was yesterday hit with a two-match ban that rules him out of the champions’ next two Premier League games against Tarxien Rainbows and Valletta, his two former clubs.

The Brazilian, who completed his move to the Paolites in the final week of the summer transfer window, was sanctioned after being shown a straight red card for elbowing midfielder Mandinho in the second half of his side’s 4-1 win over Naxxar Lions last Saturday.

Denni’s petulant act spoiled his debut for Hibs after he had scored the Paolites’ second goal early in the second half.

Meanwhile, Ħamrun Spartans defender Orosco Anonam was yesterday handed a two-match ban after he failed to serve a one-match suspension he had incurred at the end of last season when he was a Pietà Hotspurs player.

Anonam’s participation in the Spartans’ opening-day Division One 3-1 win over Fgura on Sunday has led the latter to file a protest, claiming that the Nigeria-born player was ineligible to play.
