A motorcyclist and a pillion rider were injured in separate accidents on Saturday afternoon.

In the first accident, a 38-year-old motorcyclist from Ħamrun was grievously injured when he was hit by a car in Msida.

The police said the accident happened in Triq Clarence at 2pm. The car was being driven by a 44-year-old woman from Attard.

The motorcyclist was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

In the second accident, which took place in Triq Louis Wettinger, Mellieħa at 3pm, a 43-year-old Briton who lives in Sliema lost control of his KSR and fell.

The pillion rider, a 40-year-old Briton, who also lives in Sliema, had to be hospitalised.

He was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified to be suffering from grievous injuries. The motorcyclist was not injured.
