Two commuters were injured yesterday afternoon after the route bus they were travelling in crashed into a tree along December 13 road in Marsa.
The bus was being driventowards Valletta by a 54-year-old from Naxxar when the accident happened. A 64-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, both from Gudja, were taken to hospital.
The woman is believed to have suffered fractures.
Members of the Civil Protection Department were called on site to fell the tree.
In a separate accident, a car plunged three storeys into a St Paul’s Bay valley in the early hours of yesterday morning, leaving two men injured, police said.
A 29-year-old man from Naxxar was behind the wheel when he appears to have lost control of the vehicle as it was heading towards Xemxija. It crashed into a wall then plunged into the valley.
A 32-year-old man from Sliema, who was a passenger, had to be winched to safety by an army rescue helicopter and is in a serious condition, while the driver managed to get back to the roadside unassisted.
Both men were taken to hospital for treatment.
