Two former Lidl employees were this morning put on probation for two years after they admitted to stealing some €3,000 worth of groceries including Nutella, Nescafe and Red Bull from the Sta Venera outlet.

Clayton Spiteri, 26, of Zabbar and Dario Camilleri, 27 of Qrendi were each ordered to pay Lidl €1,500.

A third man, Joseph Camilleri, 43, of Zabbar, admitted to buying the stolen goods. He was conditionally discharged for 18 months.
