The University's Department of Tourism Studies, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy, will be hosting two overseas lecturers this month.

Wil Munsters, professor of Cultural Tourism at Zuyd University, Maastricht, will be giving lectures and workshops on May 19 and 20.

These sessions would particularly interest tourism studies students, as well as students of anthropology, history of art, geography, archaeology, cultural heritage management and architecture.

Prof. Munsters will be one of the two main speakers at a seminar/debate on May 18 at the Aula Magna, University of Malta Valletta Campus, on the 'Candidature of Malta and Maastricht for European Capital of Culture 2018'.

The other speaker will be David Felice, chairman of the Inter-ministerial Commission for the European Capital of Culture. Nadia Theuma, head of the department of Tourism Studies, will chair the debate.

Later this month, the department will welcome Carole Counihan, professor of anthropology at Millersville University, Pennsylvania, USA. She will be lecturing the Diploma in Gastronomy students but will also give a public lecture entitled: 'Tasting Tensions: Gastronomy and Activism in Italian Slow Food Chapters' on May 26 at the Aula Magna, Valletta.
