(Adds the expected arraignment of a woman in connection with the stabbing case)

Two men are in danger of losing their life following a stabbing incident in Swatar and a traffic accident in Mgarr late yesterday.

In the first case, a 42-year-old man was critically injured when his Toyota was involved in a collision with a Range Rover. The incident happened in Sta Marija Street, Mgarr, at about 9.30 p.m.

The Toyota driver was trapped in the wreckage of his vehicle and had to be freed by rescuers from the Civil Protection Department before being rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.

The Range Rover was driven by a 24-year-old man from Mgarr.

The police said that at about 1.15 a.m. they were informed that the Toyota driver's condition had worsened and he was in danger of losing his life.

In the other case, a 30-year-old man from Cospicua resident in Swater, Msida, was critically injured by a pointed instrument in a house in Guze' Ellul Mercer Street, Swatar. The incident happened at about 11 p.m.

A woman is being questioned by the police and is expected to be taken to court this morning.

The victim is in intensive care at Mater Dei Hospital.
