Two Libyan nationals yesterday pleaded guilty to using 41 counterfeit Lm10 notes.

Abdul Baset Debia, 39, from Valletta, was jailed for 15 months and Adel Muftah Elforjani, 27, from Sliema, was given a two-year jail term suspended for four years after they admitted to trying to use the notes in Floriana on January 6.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli heard Mr Elforjani also admit to resisting arrest and assaulting and threatening police officers.

Mr Debia also admitted to relapsing.

Police Inspector Paul Micallef Grimaud prosecuted.

Lawyer Richard Sladden appeared for Mr Elforjani.

Lawyer Leslie Cuschieri appeared for Mr Debia.
