A father and his son were today charged in court with the attempted murder of Italian restaurateur in an incident in Gharghur yesterday.

Salvatore Bonello 45, and his son Carlo, 21, both of St Andrews, denied the attempted murder of Antonino Petralia, 53, who suffered a a gash to his head and a facial fracture during a scuffle. An angle grinder was allegedly used.

No request for bail was made, but the defence asked the court for a doctor to examine injuries suffered by the accused. The request was upheld.
