Two cars parked outside the Ta’ Qali stadium car park were engulfed in flames on Friday night while the Valletta vs Ħamrun match was in progress.

A convertible black Renault Meagan, which belongs to a Valletta supporter, caught fire, and its flames spread to a policeman’s Toyota Vitz.

As smoke drifted over the stadium, a public announcement was made asking drivers to remove their vehicles. Members of the crowd pushed surrounding cars away from the fire, to avoid further damage.

Traffic police officers used fire extinguishers in an attempt to extinguish the flames before a fire engine arrived. No one was injured.

The police could not say whether arson was suspected.
