Two Cameroonians in Malta to allegedly buy property were this morning jailed for 16 months each.

Donavon Paul Tamo, 38, holder of a German passport ,was staying at the Santana Hotel in Qawra with his friend Roger Ganketcha, 37, who wanted to buy the property.

Sources said Mr Ganketcha sent Mr Tamo to property dealer Michael Mercieca to see the property.

When Mr Tamo and Mr Mercieca were going for the viewing, Mr Mercieca realised that he had forgotten the property keys at the office and got out of the car to get them, leaving Mr Tamo and €8,400 inside.

Mr Tamo who pleaded guilty to theft, left with the money.

Mr Ganketcha pleaded guilty to being an accomplice and handling stolen property.
