An 18-year-old man had his probation period extended by three years and his 16-year-old partner-in-crime was conditionally discharged for 18 months after they pleaded guilty to trying to burgle a kiosk in Qawra on Monday night.

Richard Muscat, from St Julians, admitted to the attempted theft and to causing €1,164 damages to Champion Kiosk. He also admitted to breaching a probation order.

His accomplice cannot be named because he is a minor.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi warned the youths to change their ways as they would end up behind bars.

Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted.

Lawyers Peter Fenech and Leslie Cuschieri were defence counsel.
