Two men have been remanded in custody after having been accused of stealing copper cable from government warehouses.

Paulo De Costa Osario, 43, who is Portuguese, and Johann Joseph Spiteri, 33 of Fgura, were accused of stealing the cables on Friday and on previous occasions and also trying to sell the copper.

De Costa Osario was also accused of hindering police investigations and disobeying police orders.

The two pleaded not guilty. 

Police Inspectors Jurgen Vella and Spiridione Zammit prosecuted.
