Joseph Zahra, 56 of Zurrieq, was today granted bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000 after pleading not guilty of violently resisting two policemen on Saturday afternoon at Hal Far.

He also denied slight;ly injuring them, damaging a police car, disobeying orders and breaching public peace.

Mr Zahra also pleaded not guilty to having threatened a police sergeant on November 6 and insulting another policeman on November 13.

In a separate arraignment, Roderick Micallef, 21 of Pembroke, pleaded not guilty to assaulting a policewoman and and two policemen, disobeying orders and breaching public peace yesterday afternoon in St Julians. He is alleged to have been involved in a fight with a third party and the police intervened.

He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000
