Twin girls, aged 11, were injured, one critically, when they were hit by a Ford Transit van in Attard this evening.

The incident happened in Triq Hal Warda at about 7.45 p.m. The girls were crossing the road on a zebra crossing after a Christian doctrine lesson. One of them was thrown violently onto another car.

The girls were rushed to hospital along with their father, who witnessed the incident from across the road.

One of the girls was found to be in danger of losing her life, the police said.
