TVM has maintained its prime position between January and March this year, according to the Broadcasting Authority's radio and television audience assessment survey.

The survey found that the station maintained its position throughout increasing the number of viewers over the same period in 2009 by 9.3 per cent.

The other two main local stations One and Net TV also maintained their ranking with One losing 3.2 per cent and Net TV increasing the amount of viewers by 2.4 per cent over the same period last year.

However, 43.3 per cent of total viewers preferred foreign broadcasting stations.

When it came to radio, similar to previous assessment periods the number of listeners captured by each broadcasting station has been maintained throughout with Bay Radio attaining the highest percentage average of 17.95 per cent of total listeners.

One Radio obtained the second overall average of 14.76 per cent; while Calypso Radio attained the third best average audience reach of 11.99 per cent.
