Turkish Airlines has ordered seven long-range Boeing 777-300ER jetliners with a total value of $1.9 billion, on top of five aircraft ordered two months ago, according to Boeing.

The Istanbul-based airline currently operates a fleet of 65 Boeing airplanes, including Next-Generation 737s and leased 777-300ERs.

The 777-300ER, which can seat up to 365 passengers, weighs 19 per cent less than its closest competitor, Boeing said, and thus requires less fuel.
