Tunisian construction worker Ferhat Bouchhioua, 55, was this afternoon acquitted of the attempted murder of Joseph Magro when he drove his car at him at a workplace incident in Msida.

A jury however, by a 7-2 verdict convicted him of attempting to cause Mr Magro grievous bodily harm.

Mr Bouchhioua weas handed a two-year jail term suspended for four years.

Mr Magro, who was the worker's foreman, only suffered slight injuries in the incident.
