US President-elect Donald Trump wished supporters in Grand Rapids, Michigan a "Merry Christmas" during a rally as part of his 'Thank You' tour across the country.

Trump was an outspoken opponent of political correctness during his presidential campaign. He predicted that stores will begin putting the phrase up more often, instead of the more neutral phrase, "Happy Holidays."

One of the ideas spread by hard-line conservatives is that there is a "war on Christmas." But Trump told a rally in Michigan that "we're going to start saying 'Merry Christmas' again" after he takes office in January.
