A Freeport truck driver who drove into a pothole at one of the terminals, sustaining injuries to his neck, has been awarded €6,750 in compensation.

Vincent Dimech spent two months on sick leave recovering from whiplash that also affected sensitivity in his left arm.

The incident happened on January 30, 2009, when he was driving his truck along a terminal.It was raining and the pothole was filled with rainwater.Mr Justice Anthony Ellul said the company was duty bound to provide a safe workplace.
