The trompe l'oeil at the Gozo Cathedral referred to colloquially as "the false dome" is actually by the prolific artist Antonio Manuele of Messina and not Pippi, as stated by Joe Zammit-Ciantar (Gozo Supplement, The Sunday Times, August 9). Pippi, a word that in eastern Sicily refers to pepper, is actually the nickname of Manuele.

A paper is being drawn up on this Sicilian artist who achieved a convincing sense of three-dimensional reality and whose works can be found in other important churches in Sicily.
