Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta is seeking to reduce its staff complement by 102 people as the company continues to experience a drop in the order-book as a result of the current global economic situation.

The company said it has been discussing the situation with the General Workers’ Union since January 12.

Over the past few months it has taken various measures to mitigate the situation dismissing 25 employees and implementing a four- day week for all its employees. This ceased on January 1.

The company depends on orders from car manufacturers. It has been hit hard by the slump which took over the automotive industry as a result of the international financial crisis.
