Small trees and saplings planted in a small public garden called Ġardina tal-Paċi in Mosta were stolen overnight.

The theft followed vandalism on a commemorative plaque a few nights previously.

The Ministry of Social Solidarity, the LEAP centre of Qawra and Mosta local council condemned the vandalism and the theft.

The garden was inaugurated in September and the saplings were planted by a group of volunteer youths.

The garden was set up on a former dump site by Mosta Council, which had worked with the LEAP centre for the planting of 30 olive trees.
