A New York man has been presented with the $1 million jackpot he claimed when he found a lottery ticket in street debris after superstorm Sandy.

Landscaper Marvin Rosales Martinez had been clearing debris when he found the ticket in a pile of leaves in October last year.

Lottery officials carried out an investigation to make sure of the validity of the ticket.

There was no report of theft or of a ticket being misplaced. No other claim was made.
