Travelling by bus 10 times in November will earn you €10 extra credit on your tallinja card in December, Transport Malta said today.
A total of €500,000 are being allocated to this EU funded initiative as Transport Malta tries to encourage commuting by public transport. A ‘journey' for the scope of this offer is defined as any trips from any point in the country to any final destination, including line changes, if necessary, within a two-hour period.
The authority has installed numerous new bus stops and is installing others in preparation for the introduction of the new routes.
"The introduction was regretfully delayed because of a union dispute. The new routes will greatly improve the service," Transport Malta said in a statement.
The new public transport campaign follows last month’s top up campaign thanks to which more than 65,000 tallinja card holders benefitted.
Both campaigns form part of the EU-funded Modus project. Transport Malta built new bus interchanges, the Marsa Park and Ride and is extending the Valletta Bus terminus through this project.
A number of electronic signs, bus priority measures and traffic lights are being installed as part of a project part-financed by the EU European Regional Development Fund.
