Four bus drivers and a ticket inspector were arraigned today and accused of violence during the public transport strike. They denied the charges and were refused bail, raising to 22 the number of men now at Corradino under preventive arrest as a consequence of the strike.

The accused were Silvio Borg, 39, Paul Cardona, 31 and George Psaila, 42 all of Mellieha, Denis Desira, 38 of Bugibba and his son, 18-year-old Wayne, who is a ticket inspector.

They were accused of involvement in incidents at Pinto Wharf on Tuesday including violence, making threats, disobeying police orders and forming part of a group of more than 10 intent onc ommiting a crima.

Paul Cardona alone was also accused of using his vehicle to block the free flow of traffic.
