The Transport Ministry said this afternoon that the Labour Party was showing hypocrisy at its best in the issue over plans to privatise car parks.

It noted that the Labour-controlled Hamrun council had issued a call for tenders which provided, among other things, that the management of the car park in the locality would be transferred to a private contractor. It did not reserve any slots  for residents of Hamrun and it did not establish tariffs, leaving that up to the contractor.

The Labour Party had not criticised that call for tender, and the call for tenders issued by Transport Malta was not any different, showing Labour's hypocrisy, the ministry said.
