Bank of Valletta is sponsoring the Transplant Support Group for the ninth year. In addition to the sponsorship, the bank presented applications from over 100 bank employees who enrolled in the organ donation scheme run by the support group.

Edward Muscat Azzopardi, head of marketing at BoV, presented the bank's sponsorship to Alfred Debattista, president of the Transplant Support Group, at the Renal Unit at Mater Dei Hospital, in the presence of Tony Bugeja, Nursing Officer and transplant co-ordinator of the Renal Unit.

"BoV values the principles of solidarity, particularly with those members of the community who are in need of essential services, such as those offered by the Transplant Support Group and Renal Unit. We are pleased with the response by the bank's staff to the organ donation scheme. Their enrolment have made this support event more meaningful", said Mr Muscat Azzopardi.

The support group was founded by a group of recipients of organs, on the initiative of Mr Debattista. The organisation is a philanthropic group that takes care of its 240 members by providing support to organ recipients and prospective ones and to their families.

The first annual general meeting set by the organisation was held at the former BoV head office in Sliema in 2001.
