In reference to Charles Camilleri's comment on guide dogs (December 17), calling their devotion to their master as cruel and comparing these dogs to circus animals is so far away from what it really is.
It is a fact that the bond of a guide dog to its owner is tremendous. I have seen many dogs guide their owners to cross busy streets, help them to use public transportation, affording the owners to have a job.
The other side of the coin is that the owners love and protect their guide dog above and beyond the norm.
In nature, a dog wants to please and protect; they are so loved and so lucky to have been trained so well and to always have a companion dog to man as well as man to dog.
These animals are heroes.
