A freight train loaded with sulphuric acid derailed in Australia's outback yesterday.

Local media say the 26-car train was carrying about 200,000 litres of the substance when it came off the tracks.

Officials say there was a minor leakage of the acid and some diesel fuel prompting a two kilometre exclusion zone.

Three drivers sustained minor injuries and were being treated at a local hospital, media said.
