Whoever said that justice delayed is justice denied? With traffic choking Maltese roads, Magistrate Ian Farrugia this morning opted to give plaintiffs a 30-minute grace period to make it to court on time.

“Due to the enormous traffic on Maltese roads, the Court believes it should give everyone due to appear before it some more time to make it here. The session will therefore begin at around 9.30am,” a notice posted outside Magistrate Farrugia’s courtroom stated.

Traffic, already at record highs, is expected to get even worse as of next month, when Kappara junction roadworks will begin in earnest. The €22.5m project is expected to take 77 weeks to complete.

In the meantime, motorists trying to make it to court on time will be hoping that other members of the judiciary are as forgiving as Magistrate Farrugia.
