The police have warned about temporary traffic arrangements in Valletta and Floriana on Friday when Malta hosts the summit meeting of southern EU states.

The meeting will be held in the afternoon and evening at the Auberge de Castille followed by a dinner at the president's Palace in Valletta.

There will also be temporary parking and traffic restrictions in St Julian's and the airport area on Friday and Saturday, the police said.

Leaders from Cyprus, France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, and Spain will be in Malta for the Southern EU Countries Summit to be hosted by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Known as the ‘EUMed7’, the seven EU countries formed the alliance in Brussels in 2013 to address issues of common interest in the Mediterranean region.
