The Malta Transport Authority yesterday issued advice about the traffic diversions that will be in place while repair works are being carried out on the St Paul's Bay bypass, starting Monday and taking five days.

Traffic from Gozo, Mellieha and Xemxija will be diverted from Olympic Grove Roundabout, Xemxija to Ghajn Tuffieha Roundabout to Triq Ghajn Tuffieha, Ghajn Tuffieha, Triq Sir Temi Zammit, Mgarr, Triq il-Mosta, Mgarr, Triq ta' Xifer il-Kief (Mgarr Rd) and onto tal-Qlejja roundabout, Mosta.

Northbound traffic, particularly that coming from Dingli, Rabat, Mdina, Attard, Balzan, Zebbug, Lija, Iklin and Birkirkara, in the direction towards the north, will be diverted to Tal-Qlejja roundabout (junction leading to Mgarr, Targa Gap and Mosta/Ta' Qali), Triq il-Mosta, Mgarr, Triq Ghajn Tuffieha, Ghajn Tuffieha and Xemxija Junction (Olympic Grove Roundabout).

People travelling from Bahar ic-Caghaq/Pembroke/Madliena are being encouraged to use Triq il-Kosta, Triq ir-Ramla (Maghtab), Triq Santa Marija, onto Salina/Iklin Road, Telgha t'Alla w Ommu onto the roundabout between Triq il-Fortizza tal-Mosta and Birguma bypass.

People travelling from Lija, Iklin, Naxxar and Mosta are being encouraged to use Triq il-Fortizza tal-Mosta, Triq il-Bridge (near Mosta Fort), Triq il-Forti onto Targa Gap roundabout, then heading towards Tal-Qlejja Roundabout.

Those coming from Qawra, Bugibba and St Paul's Bay are encouraged to use:

Towards Xemxija - Erba' Mwiezeb roundabout, Triq il-Mosta, Triq San Pawl, Triq Parades, Triq San Pawl onto Olympic Grove Roundabout (Xemxija).

Access along the bypass is being solely restricted to residents. There will be no access for through traffic along the bypass, thus no access between Xemxija and Burmarrad.
