The Pjazza Duomo in Acireale has recently been paved. This square has a lot of similarities with our own Palace (St George's) Square. As can be seen in the attached photo the paving is a very simple but effective one using natural materials which are found in Sicily. The lava paving in the "street" was respected and kept. The lampposts are the traditional type. Street furniture has been kept to a very minimum.

The square was not designed by a committee or an interior designer. It was planned and executed by an architect as befits such a square.
