The first of a number of workshops which would lead to the creation of a pilot project introducing ‘Town Centre Management’ in three tourism areas in Malta and Gozo was held today.

The workshop, organised by the Malta Tourism Authority’s Product Development Directorate, was attended by, among others, stakeholders from the three chosen localities - Valletta, Paceville (St Julians), and Marsalforn (Żebbuġ, Gozo).

Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Mario de Marco, who jointly opened the seminar with Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue Chris Said, referred to the importance of the presence of stakeholders and insisted that the aim was the better management of tourism zones better, involving all stakeholders and ensuring better use of resources.

Dr Said said that the Town Centre Management for Tourism Zones is had the interest of towns and villages at heart. The project was about investing in resources to manage towns on a holistic level to achieve improved localities for all.
