As a regular visitor to Gozo from the UK I am very pleased to see that the new ferry terminal at Mġarr has at last been opened.
I have been visiting Gozo for the last 40 years, from the days of the old Imperial Eagle to the three new ferries today. The first impression you get of wonderful Gozo is from these ferries as you enter Mġarr Harbour and the new much-needed improvements will help to leave a lasting memory of that most friendly island.
However, one thing that disturbs me is the fact that the tourist service hut is tucked away in a most inconvenient location away from the arrival point for both cars and pedestrians. The hard-working lady who has won awards from the tourist industry for her services to the tourist trade deserves a better site within the new building as has been promised for some time. However nothing seems to have been done to assist her obtaining a more prominent position at the new terminal. Why? This lady provides a friendly and efficient service to all tourists and visitors. Would it not be reasonable to promote a more effective tourist service to the island from the terminal?
