The Labour Party spokesman on tourism has urged the authorities to work with singer Kevin Borg so that the Maltese tourism industry may benefit from his success in Sweden.

Borg last week won the Swedish Pop Idol contest and currently tops the music charts.

PL spokesman Marie-Louise Coleio Preca in congratulating Kevin Borg, said the Maltese authorities needed to be proactive and see how Malta could benefit from this success.

“The tourism authorities need to work with Kevin on a Malta promotional campaign, promoting Malta as a tourism destination for the Swedes and in the Scandinavian countries, Ms Coleiro-Preca said.

This, she said, was an unprecedented opportunity for Malta to break into the Swedish market.
