Promising Malta junior squad bowlers, Sara Xuereb and Matthew Magro, are enjoying a summer filled with bowling highs, having recently returned from a successful two-tournament trip to the UK.

They formed part of a youth and junior contingent that stole the show at the Junior English Open held in Norwich.

The two talented bowlers won gold medals in various events before taking part in the Junior London International, which was won by Xuereb with Magro also reaching the final stages.

The latest recognition for the National Sport School pair came during the seasonal MTBA presentations held last week.

Xuereb and Magro were presented with the latest Roto-Grip bowling balls. Neil Dent presented the prizes, on behalf of the Eden SuperBowl.

The bowling balls were given as special prizes to Xuereb and Magro who were the top-performing Maltese youth bowlers at the Malta Open Championships held in June.

Xuereb’s qualifying total was 2,365 over 12 games (2,461 including bonus), which is a brilliant 197-game average, while Magro rolled a superb 2,442 for 12 – 203.5 average.

These are extraordinary achievements indeed, considering that both Xuereb and Magro are only 13 years old.
