Hidden among the holidaymakers, culture vultures and partygoers set to descend on Malta this month will be 400 of Europe’s most talented poker players.
The Unibet Open will return to Malta on 26 to 29 May, with players facing off at the Casino Malta by Olympic Casino. And with each participant having to fork out €1,000 to get a seat at the table, high-stakes poker games are guaranteed.
Talented players whose pockets aren't quite as deep will be able to win a ticket to the main event by winning one of the satellite tournaments held on the company's poker client.
In 2013, Unibet was the only Maltese-registered company to make a list of the top EU companies investing in research and development.
All four days of poker will be live streamed by Unibet, though participants will also be able to keep tabs on the action using a specially developed Unibet Open app. And if the main tables are too much to stomach, a series of side events including a €150 pot limit tournament and a €250 two-day tournament will keep punters happy.
