The FA Cup fourth round will be played this weekend with the top fixtures featuring Manchester United, who host Tottenham, while Liverpool face Everton in a Merseyside derby at Anfield.

Manchester United and Tottenham meet just a few days after qualifying for the League Cup final at Wembley Stadium on March 1.

On Tuesday, United beat Derby 4-2 to secure the two-legged semi-final 4-3 on aggregate as Tottenham needed two late extra-time goals to stave off Burnley's valid challenge at Turf Moor.

Last weekend, champions United moved to the top of the standings after they edged Bolton 1-0 with a last-gasp Dimitar Berbatov winner. Tottenham, on the other hand, are still in the red zone and today are not expected to field their best XI to focus on the Premier League. United also have to deal with a long list of injuries.

It seems, Dimitar Berbatov has now adjusted to life at Old Trafford following his move from Tottenham in the summer. The Bulgarian has scored vital goals in recent weeks to propel the side to the top.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are struggling for goals as they only netted eight at White Hart Lane and 13 away from home in the league. Not the same can be said of Spurs in cup competition after scoring 27 in the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Last season, United and Tottenham met in the same round of the competition with Alex Ferguson's men coming out on top 3-1 (Tevez, Ronaldo 2 - Keane). United's run was subsequently halted by Redknapp who led Portsmouth to a famous 1-0 at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals.

On past FA Cup meetings, Tottenham hold the edge over their rivals 5-4.

This season, the two met once in the Premier League with the match at White Hart Lane finishing in a goalless draw.

Mersey clash

Liverpool and Everton will meet for the second time in the space of a week following Monday's 1-1 draw at Anfield.

Rafael Benitez, the Liverpool manager, is currently involved in a wrangle with the club owners over a new contract.

Everton are passing through a very positive patch and are currently fighting for a top four place that would reward them with a place in the Champions League for the second time in their history.

In past FA Cup duels, the two Merseyside clubs clashed 16 times and Liverpool hold the upperhand 9-6. In their last FA clash in the fifth round of the 1990-91 competition, the tie dragged into two replays (0-0 and 4-4). Everton then won the third game 1-0.

The other meeting that comprises two Premier League sides is between Sunderland and Blackburn at the Stadium of Light.

Both clubs have shown an improvement lately since their change in manager with Sam Allardyce taking over at Rovers and Ricky Sbragia filling the Black Cats' vacancy.

This is the fourth time these two teams will meet this season.

Sunderland are on top in league commitments with a 2-1 win at Ewood Park and a 0-0 draw at home. In the fourth round of the League Cup, Blackburn ousted Sunderland 2-1 away.

Arsenal and Chelsea were both paired with Championship sides.

The Gunners visit Cardiff, while the Blues tackle Ipswich at Stamford Bridge.

Old-timers will remember the final between Arsenal and Cardiff when the Welsh side took the coveted cup out of England for the only time in the history of the competition. It was way back in 1927 and on that occasion, the Bluebirds won 1-0.

Kettering, the only non-league team left in the FA Cup, host Fulham at Rockingham Road. The Poppies will be striving to collect their 42nd League scalp in their history.

Cup holders Portsmouth will be keen to progress to the next round against Championship side Swansea at Fratton Park.

In past results, the south coast side lead the Swans 3-1.

Championship leaders Wolves cross swords with Middlesbrough at Molineux. In the previous round, the Midlanders saw off rivals Birmingham at St Andrew's in a highly-charged derby.

League One side Hartlepool, who eliminated Premier League side Stoke at their own Victoria Park, will seek another fine scalp in West Ham in front of their own fans.

Hartlepool are currently managed by caretaker boss Chris Turner.

Turner, who played in goal for Manchester United, won the League Cup with Sheffield Wednesday 18 years ago.

West Brom will take on unlucky League Cup semi-finalists Burnley at the Hawthorns.
