Transport Malta should study the way Singapore is reducing its vehicle population growth. Like Malta, Singapore is one of the most densely-populated countries in the world, so we can easily learn a lesson or two on how to rid Malta from the over importation of new and used cars.

SUVs and big car models deserve to get the first chop. Scrapping an old car before buying or importing a new or used car should have been implemented years ago. At the prices that used cars from the UK and Japan are going, it is obvious that the vehicle population growth will continue to expand.

There must be some urgent and serious planning on how to control the present vehicle buying frenzy, to reduce the amount of pollution, traffic and parking problems.
